All students are invited to sign up for this FREE tradition that is taking place online this year.

Z12 is a Welcome to MaroonLife event. Look for this logo throughout the year for more must-do events and action items for first-year students.

Previously called, Dinner with 12 Maroons, Zoom with 12 Maroon (Z12) is a series of dinners that occurs in the Winter Quarter. Students sign up and are chosen at random to attend a dinner with peers, alumni, and faculty. This event is a great way to cultivate meaningful connections in informal settings. At any given dinner, conversation topics may range from structuralism to public finance.

Every fall the Student Alumni Committee organizes its most popular event of the year: Dinner with 12 Maroons. Over three nights, alumni volunteers host dinners for 12 people: a professor, an alumni guest, and enough undergrads to round out the numbers. From breaking bread at Pizza Capri to slurping noodles at Snail Thai, guests enjoyed a variety of cuisines in the Hyde Park area.

While we follow national guidelines for social distancing, Dinner with 12 Maroons has been transformed into Zoom with 12 Maroons! When you sign up, you’ll receive a unique Zoom link to one of six rooms filled with a diverse group of UChicagoans and a gift from us to go along with your virtual experience. You’ll be able to choose a night that best suits your schedule.
