2021-2022 SAC Events
Student Alumni Committee hosts various events throughout the year with the purpose of connecting students with alumni, celebrating our community and improving student life. While we cherish the ability to come together as one UChicago community, your health and safety are our top priority. For that reason, some of these events will be in-person while others will be hosted online. Check back for updates!
RBC Race for the Kids at Comer Children’s Hospital:
Help fund groundbreaking research for the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital. The race offers families and friends a day of fun while supporting children’s health in Chicago and throughout the world. Students get a discounted rate.
College Kick-off and Academic Opportunities Fair:
Students, faculty and Staff in the College are invited to join Dean Boyer and members of the College administration for a cookout on Harper Quad featuring free giveaways, music, and games to celebrate the beginning of another great academic year! The Academic Opportunities Fair is a new event in conjunction with College Kick-Off that is open to students from all class years. Stop by to gain academic resources, learn about research and professional development opportunities, and connect with advocacy and affinity groups.
Homecoming Banner Competition:
Express your UChicago pride with a student banner displayed at our Homecoming Block Party. Bring your artistic vision to life with paint and canvas. The winning house will bask in glory and a Housing-sponsored Study Break. This event is hosted by the Student Alumni Committee. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. Check back soon for more updates about the 2021 Homecoming festivities.
Last year’s event was groundbreaking as, for the first time, alumni and students alike could vote for their favorite digital banners. See the submissions and winners of the 2020 Homecoming Banner Competition here!

Zoom With 12 Maroons is a reimagination of our popular Dinner With 12 Maroons, a series of dinners that occurs multiple times a year. Students sign up and are chosen at random to attend a dinner with peers, alumni, and faculty. This event is a great way to cultivate meaningful connections in informal settings. At any given dinner, conversation topics may range from structuralism to public finance. To learn more about this event, check out the Winter 2021 Z12 page or email StudentAlumniCommittee@uchicago.edu.
Check back for event updates. Meanwhile, check out our Welcome To MaroonLife checklist for activities you can try out around UChicago!
UChicago Philanthropy Week:
UChicago’s official Philanthropy Week is a time to celebrate and support the programs, events, and projects around campus that improve the lives of our fellow students and community members. Amon many other activities to uplift our community, we also focus on supporting the Dean’s Fund for Student Life which provides students in the College with one-time funding for Student Life, Public Service or Undergraduate Research projects.
Created due to popular demand, SA Connect is a student’s opportunity to casually chat with alumni about life in and beyond The College. Choose a Zoom room that fits with your schedule and meet up with those who have been in your shoes. Check back for registration information!
